Today is 18 weeks!

Today I'm 18 weeks pregnant! I can't believe it! I'm feeling better after my cold from the plane trip. It obviously wasn't the flu. I am getting a flu shot (preservative free) on Friday so hopefully that fear will go away. The only complaint I have at this point is my hip pain while sleeping. I'm using a pillow under my hips which is helping.

BIG NEWS - Houston, we have movement! I have felt the baby move several times now. Not necessarily every day but definitely sometimes. We also bought a doppler and got to use it for the first time last night, we found the heartbeat pretty quickly, it was so great! I think it was around 150. Nick has also started to try to talk to the baby, which is fun...very cute!
I'm getting my hair cut today so the 18 week picture should be cuter than the others. I'll get the 17 week photo up too!

So this week the baby is a Bell Pepper!

Head to rump, your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long (about the length of a bell pepper) and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs — movements that you'll start noticing more and more in the weeks ahead. His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, although they're still standing out from his head a bit. A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves, a process that will continue for a year after he's born. If you're having a girl, her uterus and fallopian tubes are formed and in place. If you're having a boy, his genitals are noticeable now, but he may hide them from you during an ultrasound.
