36 weeks!

How your baby's growing:Your baby is still packing on the pounds — at the rate of about an ounce a day. She now weighs almost 6 pounds (like a crenshaw melon) and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's shedding most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa, the waxy substance that covered and protected her skin during her nine-month amniotic bath. Your baby swallows both of these substances, along with other secretions, resulting in a blackish mixture, called meconium, will form the contents of her first bowel movement. At the end of this week, your baby will be considered full-term. (Full-term is 37 to 42 weeks; babies born before 37 weeks are pre-term and those born after 42 are post-term.) Most likely she's in a head-down position. But if she isn't, your practitioner may suggest scheduling an "external cephalic version," which is a fancy way of saying she'll try to coax your baby into a head-down position by manipulating her from the outside of your belly.

Let's all say a prayer that Campbell does not come during this 'epic' snow storm. We're having a snow storm that is supposed to rival the record from 1922 (28") - this may be the worst snow we've ever had! I'm just praying that he stays put during this weekend.

My 36 week doctor's appointment was yesterday. He's still head down, I'm 1 centimeter dialated and 50% effaced. This could (and likely) means nothing. Women can stay 1 cm (or more) for weeks and I'm hoping that's the way I am! First of all, I'd like Campbell to be at least 37 weeks, if not more and second, I'm not interested in having to go in an ambulance! So please God, keep him inside!

Nick is very excited about the snow. He loves inclement weather and is like a 10 year old over this snow and thinks it's so cool we're going to witness such a historic snow "that may never even happen in our kids' lifetime!"

I'm okay with being snowed in. I have lots of books to read on parenting, etc. and the internet so I know I won't be bored. We're hoping the power doesn't go out though b/c then all the food we bought would have to be moved outside! :)
My second shower, the one with my friends was supposed to be tomorrow. It's been postponed (obviously) to next weekend. I'm a little sad because I know that means that at least 4 people who could have come tomorrow can't come next weekend but what can you do! Hopefully the day after we can go and buy all the things that we have left to buy and then we'll be ready for him to come I guess!
Here's the belleh! I think it looks smaller than in last week's picture.
